LTYC, Greensboro, NC - April 3-4
Joleen Rasmussen

Five Isotopes started the SAYRA sailing season at Lake Townsend this past weekend. The weather forecast was a bit ominous for the weekened, but it turned out to be a terrific sailing weekend. The rain actually held off both days until we were off the water, and the boats put away. Sunday was a windy day, such that Eric Rasmussen capsized at the starting line of the first race to finish fourth, and David Duff pitchpolled and turtled in the second race to retire from the race and borrow a bailing bucket from Eric. I ended up NOT capsizing on Sunday, and even taking a first place in the first race. The second race was a bit more challenging for me, and I struggled to round the leeward mark and not wind up in the trees. I've been there before, it isn't much fun. Once I jibed rather than sheet in to get around the leeward mark. At the windward, I gave up and furled the jib.
